Ordered to Pierre Manguin and sculptured by Donnadieu for Pontchartrain castle in one yellow onyx block (1,85 m - 900 kg).This material comes from a roman Algerian area rediscovered in 1849 near from Oran by Delmonte. This material has been used only during Napoleon III for building the most prestigious constructions. In 1867, during the Universal Exhibition, Donnadieu received an award for this marvellous object of seduction. The Marquise was supposed to take milk and even champagne bath!
